IL-2 binds with high affinity to a receptor consisting of three subunits: IL-2Rα (CD25), IL-2Rβ (CD122) and γc (CD132). Alpha subunit plays a critical role in regulating the IL-2-mediated responses by modulating the affinity of the IL-2R for the ligand.
